BAD BOYS  II
Partners Mike Lowrey (Wil Smith) and
Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) have been
assigned to a special tactical narcotics unit
of the Miami PD. Their "Bad Boyz for Life"
slogan is wearing a little thin with Marcus,
but he's willing to stick it out with Mike on
one last assignment.

A designer form of ecstasy has been flooding
into the clubs of Miami and it is up to the Boys
to find its origin and stop the flow. The money
in play is big, and drug lords aren't good at
sharing, so a violent war erupts between
Haitian and Russian mobs, both vying for the
illegal spoils.

A romantic tread weaves through the plot as
Mike falls for Marcus' sister Syd (Gabrielle
Union), who just happens to be an
undercover DEA agent. So, in addition to
taking care of the drug cartels, the team
must look out for little sis.
Mary's Comments
There might be just too much action here for
me. Constant chases, gun battles, car
wrecks, dynamite, fireballs, even exploding
corpses litter the landscape. Dismemberment
is a recurring happening. Not only is there a
wide variety of disaster, but it goes on and on.
The movie runs for about one hour and twenty
minutes. Imagine how many weapons can be
fired in that amount of time, not to mention the
number of vehicles and houses that can be
exploded. On the bright side there are plenty
of really funny one liners to ease the pain.
Martin and Smith are both good comedians,
and that's a good thing, because you will need
the comic relief from the barrage of violence.
Brenda's Comments
Movie violence just rolls right off my back.
Of course, there was enough in BOYS to roll
off my back and all the way down the block.
Still, the humor of Wil Smith and Martin
Lawrence takes the edge right off of a
quick decapitation or two. Laughs amid gun
fire, explosions and dismemberment are
hard to get, but they manage. Being careful
not to spoil the movie for anyone, my
favorite scene is the interaction between
Marcus (Lawrence) and his daughter's first
date. Enough said.
