THE BROTHERS GRIMM
SYNOPSIS
From acclaimed director Terry Gilliam (The Fisher King,
Twelve Monkeys), comes The Brothers Grimm, the
adventure of legendary fairytale scribes, Will and
Jake Grimm (Matt Damon and Heath Ledger), two
brothers who travel around the Napoleonic country-
side vanquishing monsters and demons in exchange for
quick money. But when the French authorities figure out
their scheme, the con men are forced to contend with a
real magical curse when they enter an enchanted forest
where young maidens keep disappearing under
mysterious circumstances. Many of their renowned
fairytales including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and
Hansel & Gretel are masterfully woven into the story,
as the Brothers Grimm are forced to confront all that
their imaginations have brought to life in this epic battle
between fantasy and reality.

BRENDA
Terry Gilliam (Monty Python & the Holy Grail) directed The Brothers Grimm. It is a chopped up
mess but somehow works it magic on the audience. The magic is Matt Damon (The Bourne
Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and Dogma) and Heath Ledger (Lords of Dogtown, The Patroit,
and The Four Feathers) playing the Grimm Brothers roaming from town to town, staging mock
exorcisms, with the help Mackenzie Crook (The Office). The visual effects are compelling and
interesting. Definitely too scary for children 8 and under. All in all, lovely to look at but a hard
story to follow.
