Casanova is about history's most famous lover (Health Ledger) and his secret love affair with
Francesa Bruni (Sienna Miller), who writes feminist novels under a male pen name. The highlight of
the film is Oliver Platt as Paprizzio, who dons a fat suit and plays a pompous boor who is engaged to
Bruni. This is an arranged marriage and Paprizzio and Bruni have never met. This sets the stage for a
lot of laughs to who is the real Paprizzio. Ledger is proving himself as a versatile actor, with playing a
homosexual cowboy in Brokeback Mountain to being a playful ladies' man in Casanova. Director
Lasse Hallstrom (What's Eating Gilbert Grape and My Life as a Dog) has created a fun swashbuckling
film that will have you laughing from start to finish.
