CHASING LIBERTY
Anna Foster (Mandy Moore) would love to be a
typical eighteen-year-old girl, but there's just one
problem. Her father, James Foster (Mark
Harmon) is the President of the United States of
America. Dating has become an impossible
nightmare for Anna. Always under the watchful
eye of a cadre of Secret Service agents, she has
no privacy, thus, no action.

At last she sees a chance for some adventure
when she and her parents are scheduled to
travel to Vienna on State business. A negotiation
with her father promises her some freedom on
the Continent. And fortunately, just as Anna is
ready to let the partying begin, she meets an
intriguing young stranger, (Matthew Goode), who
gets her out of a tight spot and proves to be the
perfect escort for her European fling. She's away
from her parents, ducked the Secret Service,
and is on the road trip of a lifetime with a
handsome stranger. What more could a girl
want?
Brenda’s comments
I find the road trip to be a little slow, but the
kids will enjoy the premise as well as the
scenery. The adults get fooled, and that's
always a plus with the audience. As love
stories go, it was all right, not too steamy,
but still PG-13. Personally, I'd wait for the
video, but if the kids want to see it, go along
for the road trip and the scenery.
Mary’s comments
Way out of the intended demographic here.
That aside, it is a cute, little teen love story.
All the fifteen-year-old young ladies in the
audience will be able to go along for the
ride, if only vicariously. The story is
predictable as only a young love story can
be, but the European travel scenes are
beautiful, like a set of lovely postcards.
Take the girls and sit back, smile, and
remember being fifteen.
