CRAZY HEART (2009)
SYNOPSIS
Four-time Academy Award® nominee JEFF BRIDGES
stars as the richly comic, semi-tragic romantic anti-
hero Bad Blake in the debut feature film CRAZY HEART
from first time writer-director Scott Cooper. Bad Blake
is a broken-down, hard-living country music singer
who's had way too many marriages, far too many
years on the road and one too many drinks way too
many times. And yet, Bad can’t help but reach for
salvation with the help of Jean (two-time Golden
Globe® nominee MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL), a journalist
who discovers the real man behind the musician. As
he struggles down the road of redemption, Bad learns
the hard way just how tough life can be on one man’s
crazy heart.

Actor Scott Cooper writes, produces and directs his very first feature film, Crazy Heart; however, the
success of the movie should be accredited to the Oscar worthy performance of Jeff Bridges. Jeff
Bridges plays Bad Blake, a washed-up, alcoholic country singer trying desperately to hang on to what
talent he has left. Jeff Bridges is so believable he just captivates the screen. The storyline is a little
weak and the movie starts off a little slow; however, the performances by this star studded cast make
this movie one to remember. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Blake’s love interest, Jeanie Craddock, and though
they may seem like the most unlikely couple, their chemistry is astounding. Even Colin Farrell is
remarkable in his role as Tommy Sweet, Blake’s partner who makes it big while leaving him behind.
