DANNY DECKCHAIR
This is the tale of a very unlikely adventurer,
Danny Morgan (Rhys Ifans) who leaves his past
behind and reinvents himself. Actually, it's not
that he moves to a new place and takes on a new
persona that makes the story interesting. It's
how he gets there!
Danny drives a cement truck in Australia, a drab
job with little flair. And so, it is no wonder that he
is looking forward to a fine vacation with his
girlfriend Glenda (Miranda Otto). Unhappily, the
vacation does not come to fruition due to a job
commitment. But on the happy side, if the holiday
had gone as scheduled, this delightful little tale of
love and adventure would not have happened at
all.
In an effort to compensate for not being able to
go on vacation, Glenda plans a BBQ for Danny
and their friends. In an ultimate search for
adventure Danny ties numerous helium filled
balloons to his lawn chair, never expecting the
adventure that awaits him over the Outback,
when the chair takes flight. Uplifting!

With a brief little movie weighing in right at
an hour and a half, director Jeff Balsmeyer
manages to send us a little lesson about
life, about making the most of it. As light as
the weather balloons lifting Danny from his
drab surro undings, this film is both funny
and warm. Not profound, but it sure hits the
spot after a hard day at work. P.S. Don't try
this at home!

Brenda’s comments
Light as a feather, Danny is able to sail right
into a fine position in a new town. His whole
persona changes as he is appreciated for
his civic contributions. Quite a change from
the old Danny Morgan's situation. If only it
were that simple to make a major life
change rather than remain a slave to old
habits and relationships. Bye Danny!
