THE DEPARTED
                    SYNOPSIS

Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson
and Mark Wahlberg star in Martin Scorsese's new
crime drama "The Departed." "The Departed" is set
in South Boston where the state police is waging
war on organized crime. Young undercover cop Billy
Costigan (DiCaprio) is assigned to infiltrate the mob
run by gangland chief Costello (Nicholson). While
Billy is quickly gaining Costello's confidence, Colin
Sullivan (Damon), a hardened young criminal who
has infiltrated the police department as an informer
for Costello, is rising to a position of power in the
Special Investigation Unit.

Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double
life, gathering information about the plans and
counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated.
But when it becomes clear to both the gangsters
and the police that there's a mole in their midst,
Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being
caught and exposed to the enemy - and each must
race to uncover the identity of the other man in time
to save himself.--

The Departed, directed by Martin Scorsese, is a remake of the Hong Kong blockbuster Internal Affairs but
the scene shifts to Boston. It is about two cops, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), the mole within the police
force for mob boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) and Billy Costigan (Leonard DiCaprio), working
undercover as one of Costello's men for Captain Queenan (Martin Sheen). To complicate matters more,
both cops fall for the same woman, Madolyn  (Verma Farmiga), the psychiatrist for the department.  The
plot takes a lot of twist and turns as the good cop and bad cop try to protect their identity while trying to
unmask each others.  DiCaprio delivers one of his best performances as Billy Costigan, the kid from the
wrong side of the tracks and looking for a way to redeem himself, no matter what the price. It is loaded
with an all-star cast including Mark Walberg, Alex Baldwin, and Martin Sheen.  One problem with this film
is we are set us up for this big climax which falls short.
The Departed is Martin Scorsese at his best that
will have you exhausted when you leave the theater.
