BRENDA AND DAVID
Glory Road tells the story of the 1966 Texas Western Miners basketball team, who won the NCAA
championship with the first all black lineup against the all white University of Kentucky Wildcats
coached by Adolph Rupp (Jon Voight), which helped break the racial barrier in college sports in this
country. Don Haskin (Josh Lucas) goes from being a coach of a girls' high school basketball team to
being the head coach for the Texas Western University Miners. He travels to where no coach has gone
before, the inner city of Detroit and New York City and recuits seven talented black men. Haskin (Sweet
Home Alabama and An Unfinished Life) gives a solid performance as the determined coach. Jerry
Bruckheimer (Remember the Titans) has produced another inspirational true life sports story. If you
are a sports fan, you'll love Glory Road directed by James Gartner.
