Tom Stall (Viggo Mortensen) is a decent family man living in the small town of Millbrook, Indiana.
Millbrook is a town where everyones knows your name and what you do. He has a loving wife,
Edie (Maria Bello), and two children, Jack (Ashton Holmes) and Sarah (Heidi Hayes). Everything
changes when two killers enter the diner and Tom kills them. This makes Tom the hero of the
town which draws media attention. This brings Carl Fogarty (Ed Harris) to town. Fogarty is an
organized crime figure who insists that Tom is really Joey Cusack, a former gangster from
Philadelphia. Tom denies it but Fogarty thinks he knows the truth and begins theatening his
family. A History of Violence is a top-notch thriller with a lot of twist and turns that doesn't give
anything away.
