HOSTAGE

Following a heartbreaking failure, police hostage
negotiator Jeff Talley (Bruce Willis) leaves the
LAPD and moves his family to a quiet town in
Ventura County, where crime takes a backseat to
wholesome family values. Here he serves as the
Police Chief, leading a small staff of local officers.
Unfortunately, all is not healed in Jeff's life. His
work is less than thrilling and a divorce is looming
sadly over his family unit. And he has never
forgiven himself for the LA incident.
But, all can change in a matter of minutes.
Suddenly Jeff's world is turned upside down
when a psychotic young killer and his car-jacking
associates prey on a wealthy family living in a
scenic hillside mansion in his district. Not only
must the Chief contend with the brutal crime at
hand, including the killing of one of his officers,
but also, there is a mob tie to the crime
complicates matters considerably. Things get
very touchy when family ties are yanked and Jeff
is forced back in to the role of negotiator. The
stakes are even higher this time around.
Mary's comments
Director Florent Siri has Bruce Willis’
career moving in the right direction with
this exciting, action thriller. No time is lost
in getting the ball rolling, and once it gets
started there's no slowing down or looking
backward. The action is nonstop. And
Bruce is up to the task this time. Very
convincing as Jeff Talley, a desperate man,
who keeps the pace at warp speed with his
daring feats and crime solving acumen.
Explosively exciting! Great soundtrack!
Brenda's comments
Bruce is back and age has only ripened his
appeal. At his best as an action hero, he sets
things straight as Jeff Talley a man trapped
between a rock and a hard place, who has to
find the way out, or lose all that is dear to him.
Good direction is responsible for the nonstop,
no chance to catch your breath, action
scenes. Adult in nature, due to extreme
violence, but the viewer does not get the
impression that it is not simply violence for
violence sake, but an integral part of the plot.
