A LOT LIKE LOVE
When Emily (Amanda Peet) and Oliver (Ashton Kutcher)
meet on a cross-continental flight, it isn’t exactly love at
first sight. To the contrary, they agree that there is no
connection and that they have nothing in common.  That
was seven years ago, and although time and geography
separate them, there still seems to be something
between them, not love, but a lot like it. In spite of their
non-relationship, each feels comfortable calling upon the
other when times get tough. Still, neither admits that they
might be a match.

Director Nigel Cole presents his audience with a romantic
comedy that appeals to both sexes. As difficult as it
seems, both can relate to the roles of Amanda and Oliver.
Plenty of comedy scenes keep the pace of the film a
quick one, and the mood upbeat. This one will not have
you sobbing in your popcorn.  Romance prevails, but there
is plenty of friendship to pave the way.

Weighing in with a PG-13 rating for language, sexual
comedy and nudity, should eliminate the younger crowd.
The appeal is aimed towards collegiate adults, not the
teen set, and the level of sophistication is apparent in the
humor.  Both Kutcher and Peet do admirable jobs with
their roles. The good chemistry between the two leads is
a plus. Nothing is more tedious than a love story made
with miscast “lovers”. Good audience reaction at the
screening often indicates a hit, and the response was
very positive.
