he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis
Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to
perform just another routine "exorcism" on a
disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist,
Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a
last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is
possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before
their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy.

Buckling under the weight of his conscience after
years of parting desperate believers with their money,
Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary
documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon
arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is
soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for
the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn
back, Reverend Marcus’ own beliefs are shaken to the
core when he and his crew must find a way to save
Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

Grindhouse fans rejoice because writer, director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Once Upon a Time in Mexico)
has created the jaw-dropping trailer that preceded Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s
Death Proof and
Planet Terror into a full-length feature film, Machete.  Machete is everything it promises to be with blood,
gore, gun-slinging, knife throwing, sexy leading ladies, high power villains, a gun-toting priest (Cheech
Marin;
From Dusk til Dawn, Desperado) and a desperate, drug-addicted girl with daddy problems (Lindsey
Lohan;
Mean Girls, Bobby).  The cast is a mixture between young and current A-listers, an Oscar legend,
and B-movie greats.  Machete (Danny Trejo;
Con Air, From Dusk til Dawn) is a Federale who after a bloody
run-in with drug kingpin Torrez (Stephen Segal;
Exit Wounds, Under Siege) relocates to Texas and spends
his day in a parking lot waiting for work.  Here the audience is introduced to the two sexy leading ladies;
the beautiful Sartana  (Jessica Alba;
Sin City, Into the Blue) a law-abiding immigration and customs agent
and the buff Luz (Michelle Rodriguez;
The Fast and Furious, Resident Evil) a taco stand owner organizing a
modern day Underground Railroad.  Machete is hired by Booth (Jeff Fahey;
Wyatt Erap and TV’s Nash
Bridges
) to assassinate the Mexican hating Senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro; Meet the Parents, Cape
Fear
).  Machete soon realizes the assassination is a set-up and barely leaves with his life.  However, this
set-up is just the beginning of a bloody war between Machete, the drug lord and the bigot vigilantes (Don
Johnson; TV’s
Miami Vice and Nash Bridges) working for him.  Rodriguez is able to once again transport
the audience back to the 60’s and 70’s when cheesy exploitation films were the craze and with his
slapstick satire and outstanding cast the audience is sure to leave with a smile and many will leave
happily awaiting a sequel.
