NATIONAL LAMPOON'S GOLD DIGGERS
"Oh what a tangled web we weave..." when first
we practice to outwit a couple of old ladies and
get their fortune. At least that's what Cal (Will
Friedle) and Lenny (Chris Owen) plan to do in
their ongoing effort to pull themselves up by their
bootstraps into a world of money, beautiful girls,
and lavish parties.
Both failures at crime, the two young men devise
a scheme to woo the aging Mundt sisters whose
family fortune has its roots in the condom
industry. Sister Doris (Louise Lasser) and Betty
(Renee Taylor) are nobody's fools, having been
around the block a few times themselves. A
battle of wits and, well, a real battle ensues as
the two couples try to cheat each other for love
and money. Stay tuned for a brief one hour and
twenty-seven minutes to see if all their dreams
come true.

Mary’s comments
I'm ashamed to say that I laughed all
through this movie. Yes, it is a silly, crude
little comedy with no redeeming social
value, but I laughed at all of the craziness.
Can I actually suggest that someone else
might like it? Probably not, but still I
laughed. In fact every time I think of the
bowl of hard candy at the Mundt sisters'
house, I laugh again! Shameful!

Not ashamed to tell the truth, I, too, got
many laughs out of this zany attempt to
gain fortune through deceit. Almost
everyone at the screening laughed, too. But,
on the way out, many pretended that they
were intellectually above it, but I heard
them laughing!
