THE TWILIGHT SAGA:  NEW MOON        (2009)
                                    SYNOPSIS

The second installment of Stephenie Meyers
phenomenally successful TWILIGHT series, the
romance between mortafeefl and vampire soars to a
new level as BELLA SWAN (Kristen Stewart) delves
deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world
she yearns to become part of only to find herself in
greater peril than ever before.

Following Bellas ill-fated 18th birthday party, EDWARD
CULLEN (Robert Pattinson) and his family abandon the
town of Forks, Washington, in an effort to protect her
from the dangers inherent in their world. As the
heartbroken Bella sleepwalks through her senior year
of high school, numb and alone, she discovers
Edwards image comes to her whenever she puts
herself in jeopardy. Her desire to be with him at any
cost leads her to take greater and greater risks.

With the help of her childhood friend JACOB BLACK
(Taylor Lautner), Bella refurbishes an old motorbike to
carry her on her adventures. Bellas frozen heart is
gradually thawed by her budding relationship with
Jacob, a member of the mysterious Quileute tribe, who
has a supernatural secret of his own.

When a chance encounter brings Bella face to face
with a former nemesis, only the intervention of a pack
of supernaturally large wolves saves her from a grisly

fate, and the encounter makes it frighteningly clear that Bella is still in grave danger. In a race against the
clock, Bella learns the secret of the Quileutes and Edwards true motivation for leaving her. She also faces
the prospect of a potentially deadly reunion with her beloved that is a far cry from the one she'd hoped for.

The sequel to Stephenie Meyers’ beloved Twilight Saga has finally arrived.  New Moon the second novel in
the four novel series definitely delivered; not only to its adoring fans, but to the entire audience.  New
director, Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass) did a fabulous job balancing the undying, or shall I say dying,
passion between Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) with the friendly and
exciting bond between Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) and Bella.  Where the first director flopped, Weitz
was able to capitalize; focusing more on angles and action, rather than, chemistry.  Unfortunately, the
chemistry between Robert and Kristen was still less than desired; however, Taylor fully embodied, and I
mean bodied, Jacob.   The audience let their approval be known with shouts of excitement every time he
removed his shirt.  Taylor was one of the few actors who actually connected with his character from the
book and brought life to Jacob Black.  Go Team Jacob!  The other Quileute boys also lived up to their
reputation and the shape-shifting effects were smooth and successful.

The movie followed the book perfectly; they included in the film what was necessary for comprehension
and omitted what was not.  The 360 degree view of Bella and her window was a brilliant portrayal of her
depression and longing for Edward.  The picture outside her window changed from Halloween to fallen
leaves to snow which, represented the time that passed as Bella remained disheartened in her chair.  The
undeliverable emails to Alice, voiced by Bella, were another nice adaption that told the story.  New Moon,
which included the first introduction of the “vampire government” known as the Volturi, incorporated a
variety of new actors.  The Volturi’s leader, Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl) and his prized disciple, Jane
(Dakota Fanning) leave the audience awaiting their return in Breaking Dawn.
