THE PROPOSAL   (2009)
                                    SYNOPSIS

When high-powered book editor Margaret (SANDRA
BULLOCK) faces deportation to her native Canada, the
quick-thinking exec declares that she’s actually
engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant
Andrew (RYAN REYNOLDS), who she’s tormented for
years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with
a few conditions of his own. The unlikely couple heads
to Alaska to meet his quirky family (MARY
STEENBURGEN, CRAIG T. NELSON, BETTY WHITE) and
the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one
comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another. With
an impromptu wedding in the works and an
immigration official on their tails, Margaret and Andrew
reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite the
precarious consequences. --© Disney Touchstone

Sandra Bullock plays Margaret a  New York City book editor originally from Canada and Ryan Reynolds
plays Andrew her assistant.  Margaret is so busy with her work that she has no clue that she is about to
be deported back to Canada. While her supervisor is explaining the situation, in walks Andrew and the
next thing he knows they are engaged.  Andrew takes Margaret home to his family.  This is where the film
looses steam.  It is hard to believe that Andrew would try to pass this situation off with his family.  All this
takes place over a weekend.  Maybe had they keep their hate/hate relationship in New York, we could
have enjoyed watching this relationship develop over a period of time.  Just an average chick flick that
had the potential to be so much more!
