Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren are a hilarious foursome in the
action comedy Red written by Jon and Erich Hoeber (WhiteOut). It’s great to see actors outside their
comfort zones like Helen Mirren (The Queen, State of Play) playing the role of a regal, sophisticated hit
man retired from the CIA. Frank Moses (Bruce Willis; Live Free or Die Hard, Cop Out), is a retired CIA
agent that is forced out of retirement when his house is completely blown up by masked bad guys.
Since his phones have been tapped and all his conversations have been recorded Moses heads to
Cleveland to meet Sarah Ross (Mary-Louise Parker; Fried Green Tomatoes , Weeds (Showtime
Series)), a young lady who works for the office handling his pension checks. Over the last few months
Moses and Ross have become very chatty over the phone and it is evident that Moses has developed
feelings for her. Scared for her safety he kidnaps her and takes her across the United States while he
connects with his old retired team to ask for their help in finding who is out to kill them. His team
consisting of an old womanizer Joe Matheson (Morgan Freeman; The Bucket List, Invictus), a paranoid
loon Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich; Being John Malkovich, Secretariat) and sophisticated Victoria
(Helen Mirren) track down the people involved in this mess and with the help of former Russian spy
Ivan Simanov (Brian Cox; The Bourne Trilogy, Running with Scissors) they are able to get everything
situated. The storyline is a little weak, but with a great cast and great dialogue who needs a fabulous
storyline. John Malkovich is absolutely hilarious and it’s great to see Bruce Willis back into the role of
a comedic action hero. Audiences will definitely leave entertained making this movie a must see.
