TAKE THE LEAD
SYNOPSIS
Inspired by a true story, Antonio Banderas stars as
internationally acclaimed ballroom dancer Pierre
Dulane in the family drama Take The Lead. The film
revolves around a professional dancer who
volunteers to teach in the New York City public
school system. But when his classic methods
clash with his students' hip hop instincts, he teams
up with them to create a new style of dance and
becomes their mentor in the process. Take The
Lead co-stars Alfre Woodard and marks the
feature directing debut of veteran music video
helmer Liz Friedlander.

Pierre Dulaine (Antonio Banderas), a ballroom dance instructor in New York City, witnesses Rock (Rob
Brown) vandalize the car of Augustine James (Alfre Wood), who just happens to be the principal of
Rock's high school. Pierre convinces Mrs. James to give him the opportunity to teach ballroom dancing
to the kids in detention hoping to bring some self-discipline and respect for one another. The kids aren't
too interested until Pierre brings in his star pupil and demonstrates a sexy tango. This film is a cross
between Dangerous Minds and Mad Hot Ballroom. Take the Lead, directed by Liz Friedlander,
combines a hot Banderas and great ballroom dancing which is sure to have you dancing as you leave
the theater.
