Writer/ Director Debra Granik (Down to the Bone) brings another bone-chilling drama to the big screen.
Winter’s Bone is about a young girl, Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence) on the brink of adulthood trying to take
care of her poor family. Her father, who was just realized for having a crystal meth lab, winds up missing.
Her mother is sick and in order for her to keep the house her mother and two small siblings live in, she
must go on a search for her father. Jennifer Lawrence delivers a stellar performance as she investigates
the backwoods of modern day Missouri. Her run-ins with family members and other meth makers and
users create an edgy and dramatic movie that will keep the audience guessing until the end. Hawkins
astounding performance is strong, resourceful and authentic and paired with performances by John
Hawkes (Teardrop) and Dale Dickey (Merab) this movie is sure to move audiences.
